When I bring up the run command (Win+R) and enter regedit or regedit.exe. It does not open. If I enter C:\Windows\regedit.exe, it opens. All other exe files in the windows directory opens fine except for regedit. Windows and System32 folders were missing in the environment path, so I added them and there is no difference.

There you go.. You have regedit.com in windows\system32 that takes priority over the real regedit.exe.This is most certainly malicious software! Delete the regedit.com file immedately. Scan your

Jul 20, 2012 · Basically all that happens is that it will act as though it is opening, but will not. Nothing shows up in Task Manager and there are no errors. However, it DOES open if I open it from C:\Windows\SysWOW64. If I double-click on a .txt file directly it still will not open either. Same exact thing for Regedit.
